To get the students used to cell references and names, we played Battleship using Excel. The students were able to become more familair with using the cell names in Excel by having to call and search out the different cells on ther Excel sheet to an opposing player! Today's Excel group consisted of a group of mentally challenged and independent individuals. They meet here at the recreation center a few times a week and participate in the different activities offered at our center.All of the students were well versed in computer usage and very attentive during the lessons. RECYOuth began filming there movie yesterday! They were able to build their crew consisting of Camera Crew, Director, Editor, Soundtrack, and Actor. Half of the shooting for the film is under their belt! Next week they will be able to shoot the last two scenes and then our editor will be able to make the magic while our soundtrack crew tries out different sounds for the scenes....whew!

In celebration of MillionTreesNYC, a few of the ASP participants are creating a collection of animated shorts about trees! Each student was asked to sit and draw out a story involving trees using 10 frames. They each scanned in their work and are now placing them into Windows Movie Maker. The After School Program has been using their creative juices to create some awesome pictures while learning about Photohop! Green Screen!!The kids have been working with green screening for a couple of weeks now and are grasping the concept quickly. They began with shooting each other in stop motion against a green screen, and have now moved on to having the Stop Motion Animation students using the green screen with their action figures.
